450d/XSi shutter/exposure problem

Hi!

New to the forum and wondered if anyone could shed a little light on a problem I'm having with my Canon 450d.

I mostly use my camera in a studio with 4 tungsten lamps, which gives a constant light source. I always use my camera on Manual mode but recently even with the same settings the shutter seems to be taking longer in some instances and exposures will come out different. Either as normal or over-exposed. I have tried using a different lens and it works better but the exposure still hovers around a little and is never exactly the same (which im assuming it should be).

I have noticed (with the lens which the effect is far worse on) a clicking noise which is intermittent and the metering through the viewfinder jumps about.

I use spot metering mode and always set a custom white balance.

Any help or ideas would be great. I'm worried I will need a replacement camera and old age and a lot of use has taken its toll on the old girl.

Many thanks,
Adrian
