That may be all some people need, but having had the D90 and the D7000, the D800e is a major step up in performance from either. The most interesting material I ever get is when I'm on vacation, the stuff I come back to frequently. Having invested this kind of money and time, why wouldn't I put my top gear to work? The D800 is hardly any heavier than the D90 anyway, which I would hardly describe as light or compact. As I mentioned earlier, if you get a wider more comfortable strap, it's about the same.
