Re: live-view highlight warnings do not show with low-DR shots

The live-view highlight warnings (blinkies) and histograms do not act correctly or display properly with a low dynamic range scene (one whose histogram occupies only a fraction of the horizontal scale). If, in, say, A mode, increasing exposure compensation (or ISO) to try to expose to the right, does not bring the highlight warnings into play even when the shot becomes highly over exposed.

After taking the shot, the overexposure is obvious and is correctly assessed by the after-shot highlight warnings and histograms -- but not by the live-view (before-shot) highlight warnings and histograms.

I have reported the issue to Olympus.

Hi gollywop

Thank you for updating the thread with your findings. I don't visit the forum at the same rate I used to do and, honestly, haven't cared to take the time to update this thread.

I looked up your thread on the topic and I'm happy to notice I'm not the only one to experience the problem. I now have my EVF set to slow, or is it normal?, refresh rate which partly solve the related problem with misguiding blinkies when ETTR using UniWB.

thanks again,

Jonas
