Total of $300...
She'll mainly used in automatic mode for the time being..

Any thoughts on this model?

One thing that keeps my 400D alive is the 400plus hack. It adds amazing functionality to the camera, like:

AutoISO - This is more sophisticated the the AutoISO implemented in most cameras - Canon or otherwise.
Safety Shift - This useful feature has never been implemented in any Rebel.

Presets - You can set up to 9 presets to represent any type of shooting situation. Can't live without it.
Spot Metering - Great feature implemented in 450D onwards.
Intervalometer - The name says it all.

And much, much more.

The Auto modes in this camera are total crap. For a much better auto mode, install 400plus, set AutoISO up to 1600, set safety shift, and put the camera in program mode. You can also save these settings as an Intelligent Auto preset!
