Canon 60D Mirror Stuck Down

I received a call from a friend yesterday, he told me his camera wasn't working correctly. I told him to meet me toay and looked at the camera.

Everything worked fine, and the shutter even fired when taking pictures, but it sounded odd, and the resulting pictures were all black. I took the lens of and fired the shutter and noticed that the mirror was not moving. I played a little with the mirror and noticed it was not moving freely, and with a tiny bit of force from underneath, I pushed it up and now the camera works fine again. It seems the mirror got lodged in between the two notches which I assume are to stop the mirror in its downward motion.

I told my friend that if this happens again not to mess with it but to send it to Canon, knowing he's not the type to do this as long as the camera works fine.

Seems strange, anyone ever heard of this problem?
