...PS, Every year or two, I have to ask if Canon has come out with a "real" replacement for my A650 IS yet ? Does anyone know of such a camera ? Remember, it must use AA's, have a flip screen, and have the "C" custom preset mode....

It seems like the manufacturers are more inclined to push for smaller and smaller P&S bodies, which means abandoning AA batteries for those tiny proprietary rechargeable batteries which only last for a couple of hundred shots. (They're happy to sell you additional batteries for $50 or $60 a pop.) Therefore, I'd be surprised to see a new camera using AA's. For now I still have three cameras which use AA batteries -- two A590IS's and an SX20IS (the latter has an articulating screen and C mode), plus my wife has an A1100. Oh yeah, I still have an old Nikon CP990 which uses AA's. Plus I recently bought a little Fuji which uses AA's for my grandson (can't remember the model number, but it was only $79 at Sears).

I use AA non-rechargeable lithiums -- they cost more than alkalines but seemingly last forever.
