Re: brianric,

I'd be using a D3S or D4 if I was shooting 8000 shots on a single shoot. Second, I am careful how I hold and that's by holding the monopod, and if lens is not on the monopod, holding the foot, or in a heavy lens like the 200/2.0 or 200-400, by the lens strap.

brianric,

If you are carefull how you hold.

But, when you are shooting Thousands of shots on a single shoot (let's say 8,000 on the Honolulu Marathon). "careful" does not come to mind.

p.s. I don't even use the 70-200mm f2.8 VRII foot. I go direct to the lens with my monopod.
but, when I have to move ... I might pick up the rig with the grip only.

and for sure if I don't have the monopod attached.

I am not even going to say what happens when we have to RUN. or should I say walk Very, Very Fast.
Black Rapid straps.

There's no stress on that connection if you are using the foot on the lens on the monopod.

Nothing is flawless when it comes to a screw down connection that you hold on to with a D700 + 70-200mm f2.8 VRII and a monopod.
