red cherry shrimp (Neocaridina heteropoda)

Hi all,

Attached is a photo of a red cherry shrimp (Neocaridina heteropoda). Wild specimens of these shrimp (native to China) are a green-brown colour. But in captivity they have been bred to display a brilliant, beautiful red. This particular specimen is eating a bloodworm—the larva of a non-biting midge (Family Chironomidae).

I posted this picture and a couple of others on my blog the other day.

Cheers,
EC
