You're right: my mistake, overconfident on my memory.

@angstrom: lens that were originally soft wide open, stay soft with an adapter, The adapter is just a tube, with no lenses, and has no effect on IQ (i.e. if it is well built: if the front and back planes are not exactly parallel, you get a photo that is sharp on one side and softer on the opposite side.
