Wow about the corners, did hear the 40 was sharp across the lens. But the 35 seems brighter at f/2.8, then about the same in most respects at f/5.6. It would seem the pros & cons come out about even, but I might still favor the slightly wider & slightly closer macro with the 35, and at a least the opportunity to shoot f/2.

I'm with you but out of curiosity I looked up the TDP crops here and it doesn't look good in the corners for the 35/2 (but center is pretty even):


I would rather have the extra stop because I don't care about corners most of the time, but this is impressive for the 40/2.8.
