Question for EM5, ETTR shooters

For those of you that practice ETTR with your EM5, what practice do you find gives you the best results in high DR situations? (we're speaking of those times when you have enough to blow both ends of the histogram at the same time) This is for RAW shooting only and a bias to the right is assumed in the question.

1) Allow a little of both the high and low end to extend off the edges of the histogram and adjusting both in PP.

2) Protect the highlights and and then pull the shadows?

3) Protect the shadows and recover the highlights in your RAW processor?

This is a common situation I face with my E-PL2 and find the trade-offs quite tricky.

I'm really interested in which method I should shoot for when the EM-5 comes.
