I could be wrong, but I think the GX1 + 14-42 lens has dropped in price because it's a body with cheap kit lens on it. And, for some, it's a great value (I bought one last week at $569, and I was satisfied that was a good value!). Bodies seem to drop in price much, much more rapidly than lenses. I could see the price of the Panasonic zoom coming down 10% or so in the next several months (to a year), but even $900 would be more than 20% off the list price. High quality lenses don't seem to drop that fast in price, and, this lens appears to be the best quality zoom you can buy for µ4/3.
