Re: Let the dslr fans have their old obsessions

Technology history isn't going to change because of the ardent wishes of dslr fans. The dslr fans aren't worth arguing with. People still use princess phones and old ladies like them. So what!

It will take decades to move the dslr to the position of the view camera today, but I'd guess that in less than 10 years the top of the line cameras will have dropped the flopping mirror that defines the dslr as we know it. On the other hand moving mirror cameras will still be made for long after that, to suit those who grew up with them. When someone makes an evf camera as big as a dslr, so that self-important pros can take them to weddings with their billing dignity intact, then we will know that the tide has turned.

SLR users aren't obsessed. SLRs have been around for a long time. For many people, the SLR was simply the camera you get when you want more control than a P&S.

The mirrorless crowd, however, is definitely obsessed. Ever since the first EVF cameras, they've been predicting and anxiously awaiting the death of the DSLR (just as you are.) Why?? Why can't they simply have their new format and go away happy? Why must something else "die"? That makes no sense.
