Thanks, I'll try that.

I have also used AE lock as well, selecting a target I'd prefer to set the meter from (like a more neutral color), then move the AF to the target, focus and shoot. That seems to be useful sometimes, but I'm wondering if the shutter half press over rides the AE lock ... have to re-read that one again.

These cameras have some much capability to customize and us various combinations to get the result you want. There's rarely one way to get the end result, only different ways, and what each person prefers or finds best, easiest, fastest, etc. Which makes comments comments like the one that started this little sub-topic to funny.
