Hi everyone,

Do you think Sony will release another firmware for the A77?

Things I would like in the major firmware update:

  • better high iso noise performance

  • manual controls in 12 FPS

  • manual controls in video with AF

  • tethering

  • ability to shoot RAW + JPEG and utilize all the JPEG picture effects

  • auto iso in M mode

  • ability to take photos during video

  • and if at all possible, better buffer management.

I understand the interest for all the A77 owners.

But I prefer a replacement or a FF actually.

Because moreover of what you suggest, it seems to be too much lacking of essential features (what can't be resolved only by a firmware upgrade, for some):

– better control of the EVF brightness;

– extension of the in-camera lens corrections to all of the Minolta Alpha mount range;
– lower intrinsic diffraction (large sized photodiod FF);
– extended memory buffer (for the burst mode, etc);
– better high ISO performances yes, but with;

– back to CCD architecture (what provide low noise and better video signal management);
– better noise control;
– switch off for NR feature;
– "RAW + Fine JPEG" shooting at the same time;
– enhancement of remote control for video commands;
– time code;
– audio manual controls;
– visualisation of audio levels in the EVF;
– headphone connector;
– smooth digital zoom control for video;
– connectivity;

Btw, no brand will implement all the functions for such a "dream camera" (including inside a single camera), because they speculate on the renewal of the line up, and the creation of new needs (I guess).

So, again and again, we await for the next "G"
