why i chose canon 5d mark III over nikon d800.

the answer is simple: the grip. i find the chassis grip of the nikon too small
to hold comfortably for extended periods. for instance, on the first day after
getting the camera i single-handedly shot 1051 pictures with the canon.
my right hand was aching but still willing to go. this i think would have been
impossible to do with the d800. i stood there prepared to take another 500
shots when the battery finally went dead on me. it is true indeed, that often
takes less than one second to decide whether you find someone or something
physically attractive. the canon felt comfortable immediately. the nikon kept
slipping out of my grasp.

the canon felt like a hilt in my hand when i gripped it, it felt alive. the nikon
felt like a fat and square, sweaty book, ready to slip through my fingers.

i don't care if a camera has a one hundred and thirty five gazillion fantastic
little pixels, if i can't hold it. i don't give a damn.

i admit i was blinded by the brilliance of the new sony-nikon sensor in the
d800 and the superlative reviews it received in the beginning. but what good
is camera if you can't hold it? so i became patient. i read, i listened and
compared hundreds of reviews and testimonies for three full months. maybe
thousands. in the end, i decided to pay $500 more for the camera that felt
right to me. i made a thoroughly researched and informed choice. christ, i hope
this didn't sound as my having a personal evangelical moment of sorts.
i am new to the forum and almost new to cameras. i beg your forgiveness.
