That combo sounds like a great suggetion, although my personal bias would be to go for the used minolta 85/1.4. Even though you would normally want to stop down a bit to get enough of the face in focus, there are times it is nice to be able to shoot with that super shallow dof. Too bad the sigma hsm version is 970ish.

Speaking of dof, as an aside, ive read that due to the internal focussing system of the tamron 60/2 the dof is actually larger than you would expect as you focus closer; the effective aperture changes with closer focus. I know this is helpful for macro work, but i'm curious if this is significant enough to have any real impact at the portrait distance? For a head shot, would the dof still be close to an f2 aperture wide open or what would it be equivalent to?
