X10 Orblessness? – take ll

I decided to abuse the sensor and shoot in and around some tumbling water.

I always have some ‘blow outs’ no matter what camera/lens I use unless I underexpose to the extreme.

Since the X10 doesn’t seem to care (my old one or the new one) if I set the ex comp dial to -.67 or – 2.0 with regard to blowing out certain spots I just set it to -.67, iso 100 and the largest f stop that would permit ‘close enough’ exposure of the overall scene.

In this situation there are certainly round ‘orb like’ specular highlights…more round then I get with any other piece of equipment.

My take on this is that the X10 is not the camera for these types of scenes but Fuji has improved it’s orbing enough that I’ll keep it and use it until some other manufacturer can tempt me away.
This 100% crop is the for all Fuji haters

this scene (resized to approx. 1/3) doesn’t offend quite as much

and here is an approximation of the same area shot with a cheapo 28-200 zoom lens and dslr

for all pixel peepers:
