What would you do? Service pack install jammed...

Okay, so, I have just decided to dust off an old Lenovo R61i laptop that we have not really used for ages.

I noticed it does not even have the Win Vista service pack 2 installed. I downloaded the pack and started the installation.

The first round of the progress bar took about three quarters of an hour to complete and then the machine rebooted... After that the screen is black (but I can see it is on) and the HDD led flashes slowly, I can hear the HDD being active.

It has been like that for eight hours now. EIGHT hours straight. Would you:

1) Pull the plug and see what happens upon reboot
2) Let it continue in its current state

I would really appreciate any replies. Even if just for comfort. If the whole things goes corrupt I will not lose anything critical. In that case I would likely install XP to it. I have an old licence that I could use.
