My happy place is with the kit 18-55WR plus Sigma's 15 fisheye for the extreme wide shots, and the DA55-300 on the long end. Some landscapes can take some magnifying and that lens is excellent, quite sharp if a bit slow past 200mm. Here it is at 60mm:

Nice shot of Horseshoe Lake, Jim. My lightweight backpacking kit usually includes the 16-45 and 55-300. That range covers pretty wide (plus panos) to pretty long, plus both fit in the same Lowe case. Here's a shot with the 16-45 of moonrise at sunset on Horsehoe Lake.
