Firstly the head of the human is forward as he jumps the steeplechase. Then when he drops, if you're using a telephoto, you have to drastically move the camera downwards. You didn't have to move your camera at all. You lose focus when you have to just slash it downwards. Humans fall pretty fast.

Humas and dogs fall equally fast, because gravity and inertia are the same when jumping over small obstacles. Moving the camera down during a jump is not a problem:
