Thanks everyone. I am working on getting the focus better and trying to find the right aperture for sharp flowers and blurred backgrounds. I don't have a macro lens and one is not in the budget right now. I usually try to compose so that I can crop for composition.

My processing software is pretty limited. I will need to find something better. I am wondering if there are any free programs worth using.

I use Viewnx2 to do basic conversion, with adjustments such as exposure compensation and white balance, save as TIFFS, then do any other adjustments in "Faststone" viewer..this is freeware and effective for what I need, though its nothing like as sophisticated as Lightroom, Photoshop etc. but It's still capable of good results.

Other such freeware incudes Picasa and Gimp which seem well thought of.

For further noise reduction if needed, I use "Noiseware".. "Neat Image" is also good.(Both Freeware).
