So to answer your question, YES I would wait since it is obvious Nikon did not do anything as yet to fix that issue and still send 'defective' units all around the world!

Mike, considering the amount of money you spent I am assuming that your experience level is also high.
Did you do a front/back focus check with a focussing target at 45° angle?
Did you fine-tune the focus for your lenses?

What are you looking at? JPEG, NEF (which converter)? Canon has much more aggressive sharpening and noise reduction defaults and you may need to adapt your processing if you are looking for a similar style from the D800.

I think everyone is a little over sensitive at the moment with the D800 and real or perceived focusing issues. Let's see, next week I will have mine...
