Well based on further testing and more shooting, I've thought about it being the card, but of course the issue didn't happen on the NX11 ever... never once had this issue in a year. But I do plan on putting a new card in it to see, if only for performance. The battery is getting hot though, really hot. Like the inside of the battery casing is very hot.. and when it freezes if you let it sit the whole camera gets so hot in about 15 minutes it feels like it's been in an oven.
I'm fairly sure it's a defective battery or a lose connector some place.
I've come to the conclusion the first run of the NX20 had some quality control issues.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that has thought about the Card though... the store staff whom I'd assumed they would say just that, looked at it like the opening scene of 2001
My NX11 locked up all the time, buffer would crap out and I would lose everything in the buffer. It hasn't done it recently though.
It does sound like yours might have an issue though. I wouldn't expect that many lockups. I would still try a different memory card though. I have seen a compact flash device that would cause a kernel panic when a certain brand and type of CF card was inserted.
As for the battery thing, my camera does slow down a bit when the battery gets to red. I can't take a shot while it is writing to the memory card, etc. Like it is trying to conserve power and doesn't do as much at once. So I wouldn't be surprised to see battery related issues. Try the battery from your NX11 and see if it works any better, or return your camera and swap it for a different unit.
