Re: G1X Issue with using thumb control dial

As far as I know the "dodgy control wheel" problem started with the SX10 (of which I'm an otherwise happy owner) and I've been waiting for either Canon to fix it or the CHDK hackers to circumvent it. Apart from the thumb pressure dodginess described here is the rotational dodginess that starts to work and then spins emptily until it "catches" again, unpredictably and functionally spoiling manual focus for me.

The CHDK crew did a splendid thing for the "omnilever" on the S5IS (that was fine re multifunction but unusably crude for manual focus adjustment) - they permitted using the zoom rocker to adjust the MF. It works great, select MF after composing and use the rocker for very precise MF adjustment. I kept hoping they'd include this fix for the SX series and apparently other models, but they never have.
