G1X Issue with using thumb control dial

Maybe it just me, but I do find the multi-functional aspect of the control dial irritatiing at times. The fact that a new function will be inadvetantly invoked as you rotate it because you press a little too hard (to get traction on the slighty stifff notchy thumb-wheel) and end up pressing it in as well. I find I do this quite often when I have locked exposure in P mode using the * button and attempt to alter the Apeture and Speed combo by rotating the wheel. If I accidently push a little too hard the exposure lock is cancelled.

This can be excaserbated if you assign a dedicated function to the thumbwheel e.g. i-Contrast for example. As you try to alter Aperture / Shutter combo after using * to lock exposure, you end up altering DR settings if you are not careful.

I think the problem is that the combination of pressure required to depress the wheel to invoke one of the 4 standard functions (Flash, Macro, ISO and display) and the amount of force required to rotate the wheel are not well matched. I find i have to put too much pressure on the wheel to get traction on the wheel that I often end up pressing it in as well.

Maybe I just have the wrong sort of Canon incompatabile skin!

I had a G9 before and don't think I had this problem anywher near as much?
