TG-1 vs. Canon G12: Lake's edge photos
Canon G12 should be compared to the Olympus XZ-1, while the D20 should be compared to the TG-1. Compared the TG-1 to the G12 because I expected the TG-1 to be inferior to the G12 ... the former is design for hostile conditions, but I wanted some sort of benchmark.
Took picture from the same vantage point at the edge of a north Jersey lake. Besides testing the TG-1 for the first time, I was also playing w. a polarizing filter for the G12.
Conclusions: It's hit or miss with the TG-1, but it can shine; more than 45% duds that day. It tends to underexpose, which cannot be compensated for in Landscape mode.
Mixed feelings about the TG-1 after than one trip, but if could do it, would serious consider exchanging it for a Canon D20 or an U.W. housing for the G12.
