There should be no significant difference in file quality between the cameras - handling and fps is another matter.
Magazines require images at 300 dpi for the CMYK conversion process.

Ink-jets are generally fine printed at 200 dpi viewed at the equivalent of the print dimension

12 MP is good enough for a magazine image 14 inches wide without using interpolation . Interpolation often works well but for highest magazine quality which Thom does a lot of he is about right.

For ink-jet prints 20 inch wide prints look pretty good - viewed at the print diagonal dimension though they may lack some fine detail printed bigger than 20 inch wide and viewed at 15 inches.
