D7k + 105mm f2.8 VR - A whole new world
Some shots from walking about Kingston over the weekend. I am having so much fun with this lens. If you're looking for a whole new world to explore, I highly suggest picking up a Macro lens! The 105mm is a bit long on DX, (150mm equiv) for flowers, but for insects it's perfect - you can maintain a far enough distance to not scare them off but still get good pictures. What I wasn't expecting is, if you're shooting hand held, what shutter speeds you need to get decent photo's. I had to shoot ISO800 in direct sunlight to maintain shutter speed + aperture for DOF. Macro is really challenging my skills and technique, but I'm loving every minute of it.
