Averaging the good/bad experiences of two different people and extrapolating to many thousands of users is not very good statistical analysis. Any statistician would laugh at your methodology. You can't just average the experiences of a few users and say wow, there are a lot of defects out there. Come on, this is basic.

I've also read posts here from people who know 10 or more D800 owners, none of whom have experienced any issues whatsoever with their cameras. Using that example, we can surmise that there are few, if any, defects with these cameras. Using your example, there are a lot of defects.

I still don't see how any of this is relevant because you cannot draw any statistical conclusions from any of this information. While one person may see 50% defective cameras, another sees 0% defective cameras from a similar sampling size. How is one more valid than another?

Statistical analysis can help you. You can apply the F-test to the two samples. Or simply sum the two samples: 12 + 10 specimens = 22 cameras, with 6 defective units ... It's still a lot. I hope this explanation made it clearer.

Cheers!

Look mate, if it's OK for you, no problem, I'm not here to teach anything to anyone, nor to take lessons from scientific illiterates.

Have a great weekend!
