I just recently went through the whole thought process like you. I got the Zeiss 100 f2 and simply love the size, build quality, colors, contrast and macro ability. Portraits taken with it are amazing. I wanted a shorter focal length that would give me the same look as the Nikon 200mm f2 and the Zeiss delivered. The manual focusing was less of an issue than I thought but it is definitely not for moving subjects. Would I give up my 70-200 VR2? Not a chance! It is invaluable for sports and action shots. Personally, I would get rid of the 24-70mm and use a 50mm prime IMHO. With FX bodies, I find myself either going wide or telephoto and skipping the mid range very often.
