Sure, pentaprism with 0.95 magnification would be better, but more expensive and heavier (and would take some of the incentive to go with higher line away).

However, while I have not played with the T4i/650D (obviously) or the T3i/600D, I found the pentamirror OVF on Nikon D5100 (with even smaller magnification than 650D) much better than I expected (and quite easy to manually focus with). Are Nikon OVFs better for the same parameters? I wouldn't think Nikon vs. Canon would have some strange secret ways of making such a basic element superior with the same specs.
