If you don't have one already, I'd focus first on getting a lightweight travel tripod set-up. I think that's going to help you get better shots out of what you already have than a new lens would. It'll make long exposures possible, as well as bracketed exposures to be combined later if you want to do anything with an HDR effect. On top of that you want to catch as much detail as possible, which is made harder by hand holding.

The more landscape I shoot and the more I want to be better at it, the more I realize what a hindrance my current tripod/head are.
