Re: Recommend UWA lens for Amateur??

If I had to personally choose a third party lens I like Tamron. I don't care for Sigma or Tokina. I just like what Tamron has. This is my 20 years of shooting experience. I am not bashing or saying the others suck. For me past the manufactures lens Tamron is what I like.

It will do anyone service to either go in person to try all lenses side by side or order all lenses to make the best decision. IMO, once you try the Nikon you'll find a way to buy a Nikon lens for everything.

So, let me get this straight, if you choose a third party lens, it would only be Tamron?

I believe in buy it once and buy quality when possible. Yes $800 or more for the Nikon lenses are a lot, but they are really nice. After comparing the 10-24 when it first came out I opted for the 12-24 IMO better lens.

If I had to choose a third party go for Tamron.

Better to save and get what you really want it will be worth the wait.

Hi All

I having Nikon D5000.
Only shooting photos during my free time and during travels.
Recently I interested want go for a try for UWA lens.
I want to go for a budget lens since I not a professional photographer.

Tokina AT-X 11-16 f/2.8- not suitable for me since it does not have auto focus motor build in.
Nikon 12-24 f/4 and nikon 10-24 f/3.5-4.5 may too expensive for me to buy.

So it only left 2 lens for me to choose.
Tamron 10-24 f/3.5-4.5
Tokina 12-24 f/4 DxII

Any advise and input from you all which lens is better??
