astronomical transits

Greetings Earthlings. I was lucky enough to be able to have a clear view of the solar eclipse 2 weeks ago and the transit of Venus that's happening right now. Both times I had my eternally reliable NX10 with me, along with its flawless 50-200 mm lens and two polarizers. Both times I crossed the polarizers to block out nearly all light. I'm very pleased with the results. First are the eclipse shots, which I took at the edge of Grand Canyon, an ideal place to observe such events, followed by shots of Venus's attempt at eclipsing the sun taken from Duluth, Minnesota. No post processing other than cropping to fit a 16:9 pixel ratio.

The Grand Canyon sunset photo shows an internal reflection between the two polarizers when I held the polarizers slightly unparallel to position the reflection right where I wanted it (i.e. I cheated without post-processing). The other is a direct image. The transit of Venus photo with the power lines also shows an internal reflection along with the direct image.
