I wish!

Sony uses open source code in their firmware, and are required to make that freely available in order to comply with GPL licensing. They are not required to, and do not, make freely available all the proprietary parts of their firmware.

Canon does post (or leak) a lot of their firmware in a form that can be modified by the open source community.

It would be awesome if Sony did this, but, up to now they have not.
