I understand the short track would be a PITA, they accelerate very hard, and the keepers would probably be on the frustratingly low side. The ones at 1/400th were when they are pacing before actually getting to full speed.

I shoot anywhere between 1/800 and 1/1250 for straight on shots.

The other problem is even if you do get a somewhat clean catch, between the vibrations of the 900hp engine and parts, heads, helmets bouncing/moving. Nothing else will be in focus :/

I do understand. They shake the earth. It might not be worth the effort, but then again it could be. I'm not doing it, so it's easy for me to encourage bad behavior. He he
