Lossy DNG over simple JPG...?

Hey guys,

I come back this weekend from 4 races. I shoot long distance races, some in track n field, some in the open streets.

I came back with more than 3000 photos, about 74gb of raw data.

If this would be 1-2 times, i would be ok, but if i am to keep doing this, over the long term i would have a major storage problem.

I know that sports shooter shoot JPG, just for the same reason, but i cannot think that some shots that I really like are not in the best possible quality.

So, i am thinking about converting to lossy DNG. about 1/4 the RAW size. Almost as a full quality JPG, but with the options to sharpen/WB/saturate etc if you ever need a small tweak.

Has anybody any other experience?
