3d-like pics

Robert, I also don't care for 3d movies for the reasons you cite.

It's true that our eyes much greater DOF, mainly because they have quick autofocus. The also have great dynamic range because of aperture (and probably iso) adjustments.

Shallow DOF is not 3d and no single image can be true 3d, although stereograms can fool the eye (if you can see them). What I've tried to do is alter the micro-structure of the boundaries and areas with differing focal planes.

Click twice on the image below and move you head slightly when viewing to see the "3d illusion". Do you not see distinct planes clearly delineated? I have not seen this strong an effect before, but perhaps its my illusion.
