Actually I found the article that I was thinking of. My Eizo Coloredge monitor comes with a program called Colornavigator. One of the features allows you to set up your monitor to emulate other people's monitor, including the ipad. So you set your monitor to look like an ipad, adjust the colors too look good, and then export the picture to the ipad.
