d800 lens upgrade strategy
I have been using my d800 after upgrading from d200 (DX to FX).
My current lenses are:
Sigma 8-16 (DX) (I haven't tried this one yet on the d800)
Sigma 17-50 f2.8 (DX)
Nikon 70-200 f2.8 (FX)
Nikon 50 1.4D (FX)
nikon 35 1.8G (DX)
This suited me well on my d200 as I covered the entire range I typically shot at. (I typically used the sigma 17-50 as my walk around lens.)
Ok now for decisions (if any).
1. I just continue using the lenses I have and shoot on DX. This was my original plan. My only issue is that I don't love shooting the 17-50 on dx with the black circles in the viewfinder (photos are fine on dx).
2. Sell Sigma 17-50 and get sigma 24-70 or nikon 24-70. (Sigma is lighter and smaller but doesn't have the same quality or 77mm filter that the nikon has).
I am also struggling with the 35 1.8g and 50 1.4d the 35 1.8 focuses faster than the 1.4D but has some vignetting at 35mm (but still very usable). The 50mm is 1.4 and is excellent and built for Fulll Frame.
