Re: WB850F How to install new Firmware?
I did temper the advice so it could hardly be called information. You are just making mischief and being unpleasant as usual. If the menu option was not there he could not have done anything anyhow. Subject over.
This is how it is how I remember it for the NX so I presume the wb850 will be the same. Anyone please correct anyone if I have got it wrong.

But does that give you license to give all out false information about a firmware update, especially when the instructions were available for you to verify?
Now it just seems a bit like covering yourself, but the fact is, you gave wrong information that could have, no matter how remote, damaged the OP's camera.
You are unable, especially not having the camera, to predict what could happen. I'm very certain you wouldn't take a chance with your own.

Not everyone uses windows and Samsung specifically say Intellistudio only works with windows. I know there are dire warnings about firmware update but how many people have actually bricked an item if they follow the instructions with a bit of common sense. I would worry more about a web update if the connection dropped. You have to trust that the complete download is done before the transfer to the camera and it is not done on the fly and the software is intelligent enough to recognise a download gliche. I feel much happier with a transfer off the SD card.

frying the camera is tiny, isn't better to do it the way that Samsung advises. Weren't people having problems updating TL500 firmware on the EX1 (or vice versa) and having problems?
