Re: LR4 and geotagging of non-dng raw files

You may like to try 'Save Metadata to files' before selecting 'Read metadata'. That should transfer all metadata to a sidecar file and then re-use it as it saves it to the file itself or to the xmp sidecar.

But have you tried the drag-and-drop method in LR4 Map module? Just select the images that you want to geolocate, drop them on the map in LR. Go back to library module, select 'Save Metadata' then 'Read metadata'. Seems to work for me, but experiment with a couple of images first.

If you are using Geosetter, which is also a great program, it is a bit more complicated. I used to use that and Jeffrey Friedl's add=on, but haven't found the need with the new map module in LR4.
