This is an excellent point that often gets left out of these discussions. Larger files take longer to transfer over networks and it slows down the entire process.

The photos which end up in newspapers, magazines, and on websites are not being reproduced any larger than they were 5-10 years ago when the cameras used by those photographers produced much smaller files (10mp or less).
