Re: Selling 17-55 for 24-105L - opinions?

I own the 7D and switched to the 24-105 as a general purpose zoom last fall - I've been very pleased. I find that 24mm is just enough wider than 28mm that is usable on a crop frame camera (24mm has a field of view of 38.4, so close to what my first SLR offered with a 35-80mm lens)

I should add though that I have a lot of overlap in that range and I purchased a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (non-VC) lens recently to also use with the 7D. That happened because my wife didn't like the huge size of the 7D and 24-105 combo. But I do find that particularly indoors I enjoy having the 17-50mm as I don't have to physically move around as much to get shots.
