Not Australia- It was Canon USA (Newport News)

My recent experience (where they did a free shutter replacement) was in the US at the Newport News, Virginia facility. It is the newest of all the Canon service centers in the US, and my experience with them so far has been good. Before that I used the Jamestown, NJ facility, and it was also good.

Sounds like other countries have great Canon service centres.

Canon Australia can be quite disappointing at times, bordering on being lazy, or often we wonder if they even know what they are doing.

Maybe you are going to shock me by saying it was Canon Australia?

You are right. Very very expensive. Lazy might be the right word. Refused to recognise the peeling grip problem on the Canon 60D; wanted $150 and postage both ways.
Frankly they really need a rocket.
