I think people are forgetting the "micro" part of the micro four thirds system. It really is a system of compromises. If you want the DoF control of a full frame camera then you probably need a full frame camera. If you want the sensor abilities of a full frame camera, then you probably need a full frame camera.

You bought into the wrong system if you thought micro four thirds would give you full frame quality at a "micro" size. The micro four thirds cameras are a series of balances between size and quality. No it isn't the "best" and there is definitely an obsession with wanting to have the "best" on these boards but Panasonic and Olympus are doing a fantastic job of giving us amazing image quality in a very small and attractive package.

The Panasonic 12-35mm F2.8 looks perfect on the E-M5 body. If it was bigger the camera would, at the very least, look unbalanced. It would most likely feel unbalanced as well. The upcoming 35mm-100mm looks like the perfect size as well.

Again, micro four thirds is a series of compromises and Panasonic and Olympus are doing a great job of giving us a great balance between size and image quality. If you want full frame, you have to buy full frame. You can't expect miracles and you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Medium format is a compromise between large format and full frame. Your entire post could be about medium format, large format, point and shoot cameras, and smart phones. They all compromise between something and something else. So what is useful about pointing out a feature of m43 that is shared with all other formats?

On the contrary, given that until recently the choice many photographers had to make was between APS-C and point and shoots, m43 is a solution much more than it is a compromise.

PS If you made the cake, of course you can eat it. It does not mean it's good cake.
