On my open order page, it says

"Delivery Estimate: Wednesday May 9, 2012 - Tuesday June 12, 2012"

for the D4 delivery.

Only 3 weeks left, will amazon be able to keep the delivery date?

What date did your order your D4? I ordered mine on April 16th. I presume I have a long wait ahead until my D4 ships.

Thanks for the order date. My order still has no estimated ship date yet. Hopefully soon.

I ordered mine March 19, nothing zip, nada. they missed the two prior commit dates and when i called today they said they do not have a commit date.

Sorry to throw cold water on your hopes, but want it to be realistic in case you need it for something to happen (graduation, vacation etc.)

Regards

I honestly believe ship dates from Amazon could vary depending on how close to their distribution center you live. Since they have multiple DCs I think they only ship once the closest DC has stock in situations like this. In other words if you were the only one on the list the item would ship from the closest center. Since there are many people on the list they will go by whoever is next based on the DC. I think this is why you see orders shipping for people that ordered later than others. I could be wrong but I think I noticed this during the D800 initial ship.

And just as an aside, I ordered through Ritz camera, just walked into the store and they took my order. I had zero expectation that I was going to get anything, since big guys were having all these issues.

Pleasant surprise, I get an email from Ritz that the camera has shipped about three weeks after I ordered it. Might be worth it to check the smaller stores as others have suggested.

I went through the changing delivery dates for both the D4 and D800 from Amazon.

If the date is a broad range like that, then it's meaningless. It is just the computer's very rough estimation of when you may get it.

If the date is a specific date, or a small range like 2 days, then it is real.

I had my delivery dates changed a ton of times. Until the date was changed to a specific date or a small date range, it was always missed.

Ok, Nikon shouldn't release the camera until there is sufficient stock. Making people wait is not a good way to do business.

Imagine Apple, if they release iphone5 and no stock for 4 months, everyone will loose faith in their product.

At least Amazon seems to be making some effort to give a dilivery date weahter right or not. I have had an order with B&H since Feb for a D4 and they will not let me know where I stand in line or how many they get per week. All I get is New York BS when I call them. I have bought 10's of thousands of dollars with B&H and expect an honest answer when I ask a question. I called another moderately large internet supplier in the North East and was told I was 79th in line for a D4 and if I prepaid I would be 22nd. That's not what I wanted to hear but the kind of no BS asnswer I expect when I ask a supplier a question and they certanily have my respect and probably my business. I know B&H can not control what they receive from Nikon, but they can give honest answers to custmers questions.

My D4 shipped last Wednesday and I received it on Thursday. I got $300 off through Amazon Gold Box special. Plus it came with the included XQD card and reader.

That's exactly what happened with the iPad 2.

I had a D4 on order from Amazon that I placed on April 22nd, but cancelled it after I rec'd an email from NowInStock that BestBuy had them in stock this past Friday. I ordered and it is supposed to arrive at my local store this Friday. Seems far too easy, so we'll have to wait and see if I really get it.

Same here!

Ordered March 9th, received May 2nd from Amazon with the XQD reader.

So those of us who ordered early from our local suppliers and have been shooting our D4 for a month or two already should have had to wait instead while you ordered late from a big online outlet?

Sounds to me like this is not Nikon's problem but rather something you had control over.

Ordered March 16 with Gold Box Special. Delivery estimates changed a couple of times. Last estimate was June 18th, then I got a notice a few days ago of delivery move up range, May 30 to June 5. I called about something weird that my order screen was doing and they changed my delivery speed to overnight, new estimate May 25 to 28. They then shipped it last night, and it is now on the UPS truck on its way to its new happy home.

I pre-ordered my D4 from B&H on Jan 12th, I'm not getting an ETA , nothing . I will have to find another source ..Really annoyed !

Closing the loop on the above. Picked up my D4 from my local Best Buy. 6 days from order to pickup. XQD card/reader still included. Had to pay tax, but no more irritation of extended delivery estimates from Amazon.
