Is shooting raw deceptive ?

Ppl who are adamant raw shooters...is there something not quite right ?? ie. for comparing cameras of similiar genre/price. They take the raw image..and use a converter that often did NOT come w/camera...and then do more stuff to it in PS or other NR...and then make claims as to the sensor camera/IQ of said unit vs another brand camera. Is this really totally honest ???

When car testers compare cars, they use the car as it came from the dealer, and don't alter it to make a fair comparison. No different gas, tires, air temp...etc.

Would it not be more honest/fair comparison when comparing cams to use only the stuff that came w the cam..and then leave those sliders at default...or turned to zero...to make fair comparisons ?? You could do the same thing w/ jpgs. (then you'd have 2 accurate ways to compare cams. )

What too many ppl on these forums do is alter/modify/enhance the data to make their case...and some of us think that is not quite a fair way to do things.
