My NEX 5 sensor showed up with a mote. When I wiped it lightly with a clean micro fibre cloth it smeared. What is the best way to clean the sensor?

Make sure your microfiber towel has not been washed or dryed with fabric softener (and sometimes towels that have been washed 3 or 4 times are better). Certain types of microfibers are better than others.

Also, a sensor cleaning kit might be the way to go. I have had good luck with a blower and a microfiber for the more stubborn particles.
